Top 5 Biggest Madden 23 Rating Snubs

EA Sports and it’s Madden rankings, let alone with the game itself have always been a “laughing matter” as some may say. But in my opinion, Madden 23 released some of the worst starting ratings we’ve seen in a bit. Below are my top 5 Biggest Madden 23 AFC North snubs.

Steelers LB TJ Watt is no surprise on this list. The 2021 DPOY who tied the Single-Season sack record caused havoc and major outrage once EA released their official Edge Rusher ratings for the upcoming game. Although an AFC North pass rusher did crack the 99 club, it’s not who people excepted in all honesty. Browns DE Myles Garrett ranked ahead of him with an overall of 99, while TJ finished 2nd behind him with a 96 overall. What else must TJ Watt do to earn his respect?

Trey Hendrickson also feels like a snub in my opinion. Although some may argue an 85 isn’t necessarily too bad for the Cincinnati defensive end, it certainly feels low especially compared to some other overall rankings at his respective position. Among the league, since 2020, Hendrickson ranks 3rd in sacks only behind his two division rivals, TJ Watt, and Myles Garrett. If Hendrickson has another repeat 2021 season, I think people will finally realize how good the edge rusher really is with his consistency.

Minkah Fitzpatrick seems like he gets disrespected every summer for the game, despite what he did the previous season. Although the Alabama Alumni didn’t have his greatest season, he still definitely had a top 10 season at the safety position, but unfortunately, Madden EA ranked Minkah Fitzpatrick at an 89 overall which is just outside top 10. The “Minkah fall-off” is exaggerated, and hopefully people realize that in 2022-23.

Ja’Marr Chase just had the absolute best rookie season by a WR EVER, and the fact that the game gave the 2021 OROY an 87 overall, is just flat out disappointing. This rating ranks 20th amongst other Wide receivers in the league, and 2nd in the division, behind Browns WR Amari Cooper. I know all the talk about how it’s just his second year, but you have to draw the line somewhere, right? But hey, at least he wasn’t completely forgotten about and left out on the roster.

In my eyes, Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah just feels like he’s always been underrated. Obviously fell a lot further than expected in the 2021 draft, and now over a year later, he is disrespected in a way once again. The second year LB was only ranked a 78. That’s only one overall higher than Steelers LB, Devin Bush, who had a very underwhelming season. I'm hopeful the former second-round pick get his deserved recognition soon.
